Roman Holiday | Film Review

This is a review, what I thought, of a classic film. The Roman Holiday is something different from the generic romantic movies.

So a couple of days ago I got the flu and it was ugh. While laying on the couch not being able to do anything I came to the conclusion that I could just watch a movie, on Netflix that is. Roman Holiday is a great family film, but be wary of its different from most Hollywood movies.

A Carmen Miranda Style

I later noticed that I added the wrong blog site
*whoops*
So for the past couple of the days, I have become interested in the Spanish fashion style of 1930-60s. They involve platform shoes, high waisted pants, and overall colorful outfits. Essentially a somewhat Carmen Miranda style.

Carmen Miranda

For those that do not know, Carmen Miranda was a Portuguese-Brazilian actress and sambia dancer from the 1930s-1940s. Her style was the stereotypical dress style of her home city which was both good and bad. As her popularity grew her name soon became the synonym of frilly, off the shoulder tops, eye-catching turbans and overall exotic latin look. She was actually 5 ft tall and was the one to popularise the platform shoe. She was also in the 1940s the highest paid actress for a period. In March 1941, she became the first Latin American artist to print her feet and hands on the sidewalk of the Chinese Theater and to have a gold star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This post is essentially about all the style of Ms. Miranda, for I feel most of her style is perfect for summer and for a day out.

The Colour of 2018: Ultra Violet

Hey hey!

It's February! Can you believe it, this month went by so fast. So far this year has been good to me and my family.  I have started eating healthier and also working out. My goal is to be able to run up the stairs without running out of breath.

Why?? Cold Shoulder

I know you have probably noticed the cold-shoulder trend this past year. It's been everywhere on everything from pantsuits to dresses to everything. With ruffles (it's everywhere!!)
*sigh*
For those of you that don't know what I am talking it's a trend that the top of the shoulder is left bare. In the beginning, I thought it was cute and I have to admit that I do have some tops/dresses in that style, but now that it is everywhere, on impractical articles of clothing like sweaters (which defeats the purpose of comfy sweaters/jumpers.)
Everyone is wearing them and everyone has cold shoulders, how fashionable *sarcams*.
When I was about 8-10 years old, I remember that this was in style along off-the-shoulder tops, which are now in style also. To be honest, this trend has lasted longer than I expected, I wonder what trends there will be for next year. *shrugs* 😉
